Our Sustainability Strategy

At Harvey Distributors, as part of Bunzl Asia-Pacific, we believe that meaningful, sustainable outcomes are achieved by being present where it matters most – on the ground. Our central position in the value chain, combined with our sleeves up culture, uniquely positions us to work with customers, suppliers, and beyond to navigate major challenges in pursuit of a better world.

‘We Believe in Better’ brings our initiatives together into an overarching sustainability strategy and holds us accountable to our commitments. Our four focus areas guide our actions toward solving the world’s most pressing issues, including better supply chains, enhanced diversity and inclusion, sustainable energy sources, and resource utilisation.

This strategy serves as a north star for Bunzl Asia-Pacific businesses, guiding business decisions and supporting customers in achieving their sustainability goals.

Ethical Sourcing

With more than 2,000 suppliers across 35 countries in the Asia Pacific region, Bunzl is committed to embedding ethical practices throughout our supply chain. We work closely with our suppliers to uphold labour and human rights and promote safe and fair working conditions. These commitments are underpinned by clear standards and transparent processes designed to prevent slavery and human trafficking.

Due Diligence in Practice

Guided by our Ethical Sourcing Policy, we apply a structured due‑diligence framework across our supply chain. Our expectations are set out in our Supplier Code of Conduct, covering labour and human rights, environmental responsibility, health and safety, and ethical business practices. Compliance with these standards is supported by Bunzl’s Global Supply Chain Solutions team, who implement our supplier audit programme to assess risk, verify compliance, and drive continuous improvement across the supply base.

We also publish a Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement, outlining the actions we take to identify, mitigate, and address modern slavery risks within our operations and supply chain.

Third Party Memberships & Verification

We strengthen responsible sourcing through global frameworks and trusted partners. Through EcoVadis, we achieved a Silver Medal in 2026, placing Bunzl in the top 15% of all rated companies.

Everyone Counts

Our people and the communities we operate in are central to our success. We are committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace where everyone feels supported to thrive. This commitment is reflected in our focus on employee health, safety, and wellbeing.

Great Place to Work

We have been recognised as a Great Place to Work since 2023, demonstrating our culture and our ongoing investment in our people. Beyond our workplace, we extend this culture of care to the broader community through charitable partnerships and team‑led initiatives that allow us to give back in meaningful ways.

Inspiring Women in Bunzl

We actively support the growth and advancement of women through our Inspiring Women at Bunzl program, designed to foster leadership capability and career development. Women represent 44% of our workforce, and our gender pay gap audit places us in the top 20% of employers in Australia exemplifying our commitment to fairness, equity, and opportunity for all.

Reconciliation

We are committed to supporting reconciliation and creating positive, lasting outcomes for First Nations peoples and communities. Our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan sets out meaningful actions to help advance equitable opportunities and strengthen relationships with First Nations businesses.

Through our procurement approach, we create social impact by partnering with First Nations suppliers. As a certified Supply Nation member, we connect with verified First Nations businesses. We are also proud to support the Clontarf Foundation and Yalari, organisations that empower young Indigenous Australians through education, mentoring, and life‑skills programs.

Climate Action

We recognise our responsibility to minimise environmental impact and build resilience in a changing climate. Our approach combines climate risk management with practical emissions‑reduction initiatives across our facilities, fleet, and value chain.

Our Environmental Policy, supported by a certified ISO 14001 environmental management system, demonstrates our commitment to sustainable practices, continuous improvement, and regulatory compliance.

Our Commitments

We aim to eliminate Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030 in Asia Pacific, and Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions globally by 2050. We are also working toward a global goal for 80% of suppliers, by emissions, to set science‑based targets by 2027. We participate in the UN’s Race to Zero and the Business Ambition for 1.5°C, and our global targets have been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

Reducing Emissions

We are actively reducing emissions through a combination of energy efficiency initiatives, the transition to lower-emission transport, and the increased use of renewable energy across our sites.

We work with our freight deliver partners to reduce scope 3 emissions by improving transport efficiency. Initiatives include optimised order planning, consolidated freight movements, and streamlined delivery processes that reduce handling, transport distances and associated emissions.

Managing Climate Risk

We assess climate‑related risks and opportunities to support long‑term resilience. Guided by AASB S2 Climate Disclosures, we integrate climate considerations into business decision‑making. Through Bunzl Plc, we align with the Task Force on Climate‑related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and report to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP).

Circular Approach

We take a circular approach to reducing our packaging footprint by focusing on sustainable product and packaging design, on‑site waste reduction, and collaboration across our supply chain. This approach supports our customers to decouple growth from resource consumption while reducing waste, lowering emissions, and making more responsible material choices.

Packaging Sustainability

We embed circular‑economy principles into our packaging decisions to minimise environmental impact. This includes a commitment to phasing out problematic and unnecessary single‑use plastics wherever possible and prioritising packaging that is recyclable, compostable, or made from lower‑impact materials. As a member of the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO), we actively work to improve packaging outcomes and transparently report our progress through our annual APCO reporting.

Supporting our customers to make better choices

We actively support our customers to improve their sustainability outcomes by offering sustainable product ranges, expert packaging and regulatory advice, end-of life recycling support. Practical tools such as fact sheets and packaging optimisation reviews help make sustainable choices clearer, easier, and more accessible for every customer.

Looking Ahead

While proud of our achievements, we are excited about future opportunities. We will continue to exceed mandatory standards, share our journey transparently, and collaborate with partners and customers to address challenges. By innovating and collaborating, we believe we can drive the change needed to deliver a sustainable future for all.
